During lecture on Thursday the prof made a reference to fractals. The topic at the time was recursion in programming and suddenly I was reminded of this amazing program called context free! I have fond memories of this open source project from high school, as well as slime ball... and that silly little rocket game in the Turing we would play every time the teacher left the room. But enough remenising, you really can make some pretty amazing fractals, as well as some cool images with this program. So during dinner between bites of chef boyarde ravioli I looked it up and wouldn't you know, the project is still alive and kicking! It's a pretty simple language to pick up and i'm sure in the hands of some of my fellow class mates marvels could happen.
For those of you who are not sure what exactly a fractal is, they are a pattern of geometric shapes that can be broken down into identical or similar parts that resemble the parts as a whole.
This is somthing special guys! Show me what you've got!

Whole Grain Sushi and Notes
This last week has been a bit trying. Between unwanted extra shifts at work, homework and finding time for my wonderful protegees at school, somehow I still found the time to head to the grocery store for some sushi. However instead of the safe usual california rolls with fake crab meat I got adventurous and tried something new; wild rice and whole grain vegetarian sushi... Lets just say, healthy doesn't always mean tasty, lesson learned!
This was of course on my way home to review notes from class and finish off a bit more homework. Something I need to remember to do more often. Taking notes in class is only step one; reviewing them once your home helps to remember a lot of what you learned. Iv really got nothing else interesting to talk about this week, so next week will be more interesting for sure.
As always have a great week, and don't forget to take some time to relax, it's more important that you think.
Nerdiest thing I did all week: Figured out that dividing by zero wont produce a quantum singularity, but it will crash the calculator on windows 7 and force you to restart it =D give it a try, I dare you.

Hello World... No Really,
So here I am... blankly staring at the white screen with the little blinky cursor. Not entirely sure what to write, but overwhelmingly thankful for the spell check iv grown so desperately dependent on. All the while staring off into space pondering about #define and the wonderful cup of soup I had for lunch... Perhaps a little context would be helpful here. I am a programming student at Seneca College currently in 4th semester, and trying to establish myself in the online community. Many of our professors have suggested twitter accounts, irc channels and Facebook groups, but im going to first dip my toes in the waters of the blogging community.
The basic overall theme of this blog is going to shift between my fun filled school life as a programming student, and my romantic slightly insane work life as a Batista. I will always try to share and accept wisdom when ever possible, as well as sharing my favorite cafes, drinks, websites and people.
I realize that this is a short first entry... But there will be lots more to come. So if your reading this remember to have a good cup of tea, eat a healthy breakfast, and check back here in about a week for a brand new post!
